Fungimap's Privacy Policy

Fungimap collects personal information (such as names, addresses, etc) only for the following purposes:

  • To verify or seek clarification regarding the details of observational records of fungi that you have submitted to us;
  • To contact members as necessary regarding the status of their membership or about changes to the organisation;
  • To organise events that you have registered for or expressed an interest in attending;
  • To arrange the delivery of an item sold through our bookshop.

Fungimap may also add you to our mailing list for member gatherings or future conferences, or to inform you of issues related to Australian fungi that you have expressed an interest in being updated about. You may always opt out of receiving such information.

Fungimap will take reasonable steps to ensure the information we collect is accurate, complete, up-to-date, and relevant to these stated purposes, and we will safeguard your personal information against misuse, loss, unauthorised access or modification.

You may request access to your information at any time. To access or update your personal information, or for more information on our privacy policies, contact Fungimap using the details noted below.

Fungimap can only release personal information with your written consent. Fungimap will not disclose your personal information to anybody else unless we are required to do so by law – for example if the information is needed in an emergency or for law enforcement purposes.

The Right to Anonymity

Fungimap gives individuals the option of not identifying themselves by name when submitting records and photographs, or when completing evaluation forms or opinion surveys, or when making donations.

Fungimap assigns a Recorder Number to contributors of observational records of fungi to enable Fungimap to make contributors anonymous when Fungimap’s data sets are published or when they are used by other organisations. Fungimap only transfers data sets to other organisations (such as the Atlas of Living Australia) with this anonymous Recorder Number, and not an individual’s name or other identifying characteristics, without express permission of the individual.
