HomeIdentify and Learn about Fungi

You've come to the right place to learn about the fungi in your area and to get started identifying them!

If you are new to fungi, start with our Beginners Guide and find out how to use field guides and keys. Our Glossary provides easy-to-understand definitions of the new vocabulary you are likely to encounter.

Distributions and lists of fungi which have been reported to appear in your area can be found on the Atlas of Living Australia, which Fungimap updates regularly with records from the National Australian Fungimap Database.

More in-depth information can be found in Fungimap's archive of newsletters and bulletins, and in the species pages of Fungi Down Under Online (in development).

If you are mainly just interested in learning about which wild mushrooms are edible, check out our Edible and Poisonous fungi pages.
